I’m rockin’

Oct. 16Just put me on my knees – or not, I’ll get there myself – and watch me rock! I’m 7 months old today and I’ll bet that I’ll be crawling before I’m 8 months old. I like to get into this crawling position when there’s a toy out there in front of me. I’m kind of “winding up” to get ready to roll and just go and get it. Now, I finally fizzle out and plop onto my belly. It’s usually not a big deal unless I really can’t figure out how to get to that toy. But gimme a minute or two and I’ll be able to twist and roll over to it or some other toy to turn my attention to.

Other big news: I got moved into a new car seat. I just grew out of the other one. So now I have Elise’s and she got a new one. Mommy says I look so small in this big seat. But I’m not.

Oct. 14My two weeks of birthday finally came to an end. My friends and family are all so wonderful and generous with toys of every size, quantity of parts and volume. I got games and books and movies and toys. I love being three!

You thought I was helpful when I turned two? I’m so much more helpful now. I clean out the dishwasher, help with the laundry and feed the cats. I watch Evan – and play with him too – because he’s pretty cool when I can make him laugh. And I remember everything. You said we could watch a movie after dinner tomorrow? I’ll make sure you keep to your word.

This week is going to be pretty cool. Daddy went to Las Vegas for work. Me and Evan get to go to Nana and Papa’s when Mommy goes there later this week. I can’t wait to hear all about their trip! But you know what they say about what happens in Vegas…

Happy 3rd Birthday Elise!

Three!Oh, cool! I say that a lot lately… Especially when I get to open PRESENTS! I know my official birthday is tomorrow, but today it was all princesses, music and toys for me. Last weekend everyone got together for lunch and a trip to the museum. It was lots of fun running around in beaver houses and in pretend boats. Today, I got special raisin bread french toast for breakfast. Then I got to watch rhythmic gymnastics on the big tv. When I came upstairs there were tons of presents for me! Princess dresses, books, puzzle, butterfly game, cd player and TinkerBell music box (just like Wendy’s in the movie!).

presents! And after a little nap, more surprises! A cool Cinderella balloon, real macaroni and cheese for dinner with ice cream cake for dessert! I hear that there’s a rule there’s no talking during cake eating because then your wish doesn’t come true, but it doesn’t apply to three year olds. Good thing too… I talked the whole time. It was good cake.

All this celebrating comes after a particularly painful week. We learned last week that my grandma needed to go to the hospital for pancreatitis. She’s home and doing well now. And then I twirled myself into the fireplace at daycare. Busted my lip and bumped my teeth. Not a pretty sight and while my teeth have been healing I’ve been on a soft foods diet. But that’s ok since mac-n-cheese is my favorite!

Oct. 7Elise’s cake was REALLY good! It was so good that, even though I was rubbing my eyes and probably could have gone to sleep right there in the high chair, I was not going to let any of Mom’s dessert go to waste. I wanted more. And when I didn’t get it, I wailed. Hence… more ice cream cake for me. I’m pretty quick to notice when there’s still food left. Don’t try this “all gone” stuff with me. I got eyes. I can tell when there’s more food you’re not sharing with me.

And I can sit now. I have an entirely new set of toys at my disposal now. Mom and Elise just rearranged the toys too so there’s stuff to play with all over the house. A new game I can play now is ball. You roll it to me (there’s one squishy one I like to smoosh) and I’ll kinda’ sorta’ throw it back to you. It’s a fun time. And don’t stop. We have to keep playing it over and over. I’ll tell you when it’s over.

I need to change out of my work underwear

Sep. 30It’s been a sad, sad week. The weather finally got cooler. I am no longer allowed to wear sundresses. I actually spent the entire week wearing jeans or pants. Wait! I wore a jumper one day with tights. Whew. I thought for a minute there that I may have forgotten my dress-y ways. Tights! Those will be my salvation this winter.

Thanks Nana & Papa, Uncle Scott and Uncle Eric & Aunt Gina and Ella and Grace for coming to visit my for my birthday party! I had so much fun seeing and running around with everyone. And y’all know I love presents. I broke them all out as soon as I got home! I can’t wait to see you all soon!

Oct. 1I am a puddle. Not the raindrop kind. Not the blubbery I-cry-too-much kind (but I can put on a good show when I’m hungry &/or tired). No, this puddle is the one that I drool all over myself because I’m gnawing on anything that I can get my hands on. A toy. A blanket. My clothes. The carseat. My hand. My mom. Yes… anything I can wrap my little teefers around I want to chew it. My face is so wet all the time that it’s become red and chapped. So don’t think that I’m sick or I’ve got frostbite. I got chapped cheeks. When do I get all my teeth? I’m sure the puddles will dry up by then. Oh – and if I look all shiny, that’s the super rich lotion that my Mom is spreading on me to help un-chap my cheeks.
