Vegas, Baby

Mom and Dad had so much fun in Las Vegas that they barely even realized that we were off having a vacation of our own with Nana and Papa. While they were off helicoptering to the Grand Canyon and seeing Cirque du Soleil, a comedian and a Peepshow (it was tasteful they say), we were up in Wisconsin playing and baking and going to Halloween and football parties. I say we had just as much – if not more – fun than they did.

They beg to differ.

I don’t know who had more fun. I just thought it strange that I get into a car, fall asleep and wake up in a whole new place with strange faces and people who want to carry me all the time. I guess I didn’t mind. I was pretty good dealing with different surroundings. And when I wasn’t good, I cried. Someone always came to change me, hold me or feed me. At my age, things are pretty easy.

Grand Canyon & Colorado RiverSo… Mom and Dad’s trip to Las Vegas all started out last week Sunday when Daddy went there for a work conference. He went to seminars and met people, but didn’t do too much on the strip. Mommy got there on Thursday and that’s when the real fun began. After a trip to the spa for Mommy, they saw the Amazing Johnathan show and got amazed. Friday was the helicopter trip over the Mojave Desert to lunch in the Grand Canyon (very cool!). That night they had a fancy dinner at the Bellagio and then to see “O” (incredible!). Saturday they relaxed and gambled and checked out the local sites. Sunday they partook in the “sin” that is Las Vegas going to a “Peepshow” song and dance revue (sitting close is not always the best place to be, but still a fun time). After an early morning wake up call, they arrived in Milwaukee in the afternoon to get us and then off for home!

It’s so nice to be home. I can’t wait for the next vacation. I think we’ll let Nana and Papa recuperate for a while first.

A fly pooped on my sandwich

Aug. 22What an awesome weekend! While Mommy and Daddy had their weekend in Lake Geneva, me and Evan hung out with Nana and Papa and had WAY more fun (if you ask me). We started the weekend with birthday cake – Daddy’s! – and then had more birthday cake at another party. I was hanging out with all the big people and got myself my own dinner too… a hamburger and some fruit. Came home and jumped in the tub. Read some stories and then off to dreamy dreamland. The next morning, Nana made heart pancakes and I got my own spa day – a mani/pedi with hot pink polish. After a nap we were off to meet up with Mommy and Daddy.

And then… the fly. Daddy and I played a round of croquet before a late lunch outside by all the boats at the marina. Sandwiches for everyone and then the bugs arrived. I was having a conversation with my Dad when the mean fly landed on my food. I tried to hit it, but he flew away. I tried to hit it some more times, but I just looked like I was acting silly. I decided to stay with the silly route… it didn’t make me look incompetent that I couldn’t hit the fly.

Aug. 19Another sleepover at Nana and Papa’s for me! Second one of the summer. I totally have them trained… I whine and cry – I get a snack. I fuss – I get a new diaper. I crab – I get a nap. And all they want in return is some big smiles and baby jibber-jabber. Suckers!

So, while Daddy was getting massaged and Mommy was getting pedicured, I was having Nana and Papa eat out of my hand. They had me so busy smiling that I pooped myself out and slept a lot. Being happy is a tiring job! Note to future, employable self: rethink becoming the guy in the Mickey Mouse costume.

Now we’re all home, eating more of Daddy’s birthday cake and sleeping in our own beds. Feels good to be home, but we can’t wait to do it again!

Daddy Long Bugs and camping

I climbed this myselfI went camping with Mommy and Daddy this weekend and boy, was it fun! I was really only looking forward to roasting marshmallows, but it turned out to be so much more. Every new thing I saw or did I wanted to keep doing that. So when we got to the lake, I didn’t want to leave, even though I kept getting my clothes wet. Then we went rock climbing and I was doing so good that I wanted to keep going up, when Daddy said we needed to go down. (I was really climbing the rocks by myself too! Daddy thinks we should go on a Daddy-and-me rock climbing expedition.)

campfireBack at our campsite, I wanted to be the big helper – setting up the tent, starting the fire, roasting the aforementioned marshmallows, etc. But then, I saw the playground. I didn’t want to leave there.

It got really cold at night, so I was glad to have my sleeping bag. Mommy and Daddy wish they had my princess sleeping bag too… It got really cold. They shivered all night while I slept soundly until 7am when it was time to get everyone up.

And as if camping weren’t enough, we took the whole Wisconsin Dells/Devil’s Lake experience to yet another level… We went to a waterpark! I went down slides, climbed up and down stairs and went in the lazy river countless times. I wore myself out with all this fun stuff this weekend. I can’t wait to do it again!

July 12But where was Evan for this awesome trip? Where was I? I’ll tell you… I was hangin’ with Nana and Papa getting spoiled to the nth degree! They played with me all day. They stayed up with me until late at night. They took me out to breakfast. They held me for hours and hours. Plus, my cousins came over and they played with me and held me too. How can that be bad? It can’t. Besides, I’m too little to go in a lake, climb rocks or swim. I can’t even sit up. I’ll make up for missed vacations in no time.

And, well, maybe they’ll take me next time too.
