Bad baby
I’m not bad… I just like to push my boundaries. I like to see how far I can take it – push it – until it’s not funny anymore. Rolling and crawling backwards into corners until I can’t go anymore and have to cry to get someone to move me isn’t so bad. Being hungry at 2am is more bad. But the most bad is how I take my bath.
See, Mommy got tired of wrestling me in the deep water when I take a bath at the same time as my sister. I can’t sit by myself with the water up to my chin and I do not like being held down. Mommy would practically be in the bath with me and then I’m out just that fast. No play time.
So the new bath I take is all by myself with just a couple inches of water. I get all the toys and I can sit unrestrained alone (with close supervision). Like any baby, I don’t want what you want me to do, so instead of sitting playing nice, I want to lay and kick. Yeah, it’s funny the first few times I get a splash out of the tub. Mommy laughs and smiles when I get her a little wet. I’m hauled out of the tub when I get her good and drenched. I have a 100% clothing change record. I’m not going to quit any time soon.
I love pajamas. I never want to change out of them. When I get home from daycare, I go up and change into my pajamas. If you ask why, I’ll tell you it’s because I wanted to change out of my work clothes. This past week I’ve had dinner in my pajamas more than I did with regular clothes on. I wore my princess nightgown all morning and through lunch today, finally picking out a shirt and leggings in time to take a nap. After a short play time and dinner tonight, it was off to the bath and into… you guessed it… pajamas.
Maybe I’ve been playing too hard and I just need some relaxing pajamas to settle down in the evening. Yesterday I was at a Pump it Up birthday party with my friends. It was two hours of non-stop jumping and climbing and running topped off with cupcakes and ice cream. I was exhausted. Perfect example of a pajama night. I was comfortable and relaxed to watch a princess movie… my idea of a great night.
I call him “Schmoopie”
I don’t really. He’s “Evan”, but I like rhyming words, so you can imagine (not outloud please) what rhymes with “schmoopie.” Actually, the other day we were saying silly things at the dinner table and I put together “Evan” and “watermelon” as rhyming pairs. Both Mom and Dad were very impressed. It was a shortlived moment of genius… I went back to calling him “Evan Pickle” and “Evan Spoon” right after.
It’s Christmas going on over here. Mommy has been thrifty-shopping and Aunt Gina has been hand-me-downing, so both me and Evan are getting loaded up on “new-to-us” clothes. Mom tossed in a few brand new items and now we’ve got a sweet closet. Based on what I can count (and I can count very well), I can wear a dress a day for at least two weeks, depending on the weather. Since it’s mid-September, I’m not allowed sundresses anymore. But it’s been sunny and 80 the past couple days, so Mom’s let that rule slide. I’ve got a real dressy strappy sundress on today. I look like I’m going to a wedding.

I finally got some jammies that look like they’re going to fit longer than one month! Not even six months old yet and I’m wearing the clothes of a one year old! But I’m so cute and such a good boy that it doesn’t matter what ill-fitting clothes I wear. While my sister wants it to stay warm for dress weather, I want it to get cold so I can break into my new closet of better fitting clothes. All the summer stuff is sized for babies and – just look at me! – I’m no baby.
One of those pesky teeth finally popped out. I’m waiting on the other one.
And pizza is one of my new favorite foods. Specifically the chewy crust. Mommy and Elise were feeding me tiny, tiny bits last night. I don’t know who was more excited… I really liked trying to “chew” and Elise just liked shoving stuff in my face. It was all very fun and no one was crying (always a plus).
Tubing at sunset
What a fun weekend! And we’re still in the middle of it! It’s Labor Day and we have one more day to play. Saturday Mommy & Daddy’s friend Allison came to visit. She’s a lot of fun. I think she played with me the most. AND… she had a sleepover in my little bed. It was pretty neat to look over at 7am and have another person in my room!
And then yesterday, we packed up the car and went to Lake Geneva to play with Elise! There’s another girl with my name! She’s four and my Daddy and her daddy work together. We went all over the place – played in her house, ate watermelon by the firepit and, best of all, went tubing in the boat! I first tried it out with Daddy, but then I was ready for the real thing. Elise and Elise went around and around the lake until it was too cold, getting too dark and we were too hungry.
The day was so fun that I fell asleep in the car and Daddy put me to bed in my clothes!
Hey! I fell asleep in my clothes too! I didn’t wear myself out going tubing, but I got to ride in the boat and watch the sun set on Lake Geneva. It was beautiful… especially since I was enjoying it with a nice cold formula and good friends.
I’ve been napping a lot lately. I fall asleep in the darndest places too. On the floor of my jungle gym. On Mommy & Daddy’s bed (I was there for 5 minutes and… out). On couches and in my swing too. I sleep and I eat! In addition to my cereal two times a day, I’ve been testing new fruits and vegetables. Green beans… they’re ok. Carrots… like ‘em. Bananas… love ‘em! Popsicles…AWESOME!
Have I ever mentioned drooling? Specifically, myself and drooling in the same sentence. No? I have an explanation for it now… teeth. I got me some. Two of ‘em. They’re not quite showing yet, but the sharp little things are there and should prove to be useful soon when I’m devouring a freshly grilled steak. Watch me.
